Chris' First Entry

Hello everyone.
こんにちは。

This is my first blog entry.
これが僕の初のブログ（本人の会話風に）。

For those of you who don't know me, I came to "b" in July this year.
まだ僕を知らない人もいると思うんだけど今年の７月、bに入社したんだ。

I am from America, and my favorite hobby is dancing.
僕はアメリカ出身で趣味はダンス。

I have never had professional training, and I am not sure what exactly
the genre is, I call it hip-hop because that's what it resembles most.
とはいっても特にダンススクールで習ったことはないから実際のところジャンル
はなんなのかわからないけど、かなりヒップホップに近い感じかな。

I dance on stage whenever I have a chance; my first on stage performance
was when I was 11 years old at my elementary school, my most recent
being this month at my dorm.
チャンスさえあればいつだってステージで踊るよ、僕が初めて人前でパフォーマ
ンスしたのは１１歳の時で、学校のステージだったよ。つい最近では自分の寮でやったかな（笑）

I absolutely love dancing. It gives me a kind of release that I cannot
get anywhere else. Whenever I am feeling down or angry, dancing always
makes me feel better.
もう本当に踊ることが好きなんだ、ダンスは僕に他では味わえないほどの解放感
を与えてくれるし、僕が落ち込んでたり怒ってるときには気持ちをかなり楽にし
てくれるんだ。

I find that it's these times that I dance my best.
最近わかったことはダンスは最高！！ってことかな。

Being on the stage, for me, is the best feeling in the world.
ステージに立っている時が僕にとって最高な瞬間なんだ！！

Even before the curtains are drawn, I get a rush...just from hearing the
audience on the other side.
ステージのカーテンが引かれる前には、走って別のところから観客の声を聞いた
りするんだ。

After the curtains are drawn, and I am awaiting my cue, my heart starts
beating faster and I feel energized by the adrenaline.
カーテンが引かれると、出だしのきっかけを待つんだけど、その時僕の心臓は、
すごい速さ打ち始め、アドレナリンが溢れ最高の気持ちになるんだ。

I am floating. I'm going to wo them.
僕はその気分に酔いながら観客達を求めるんだ。

I may start the dance out slow and build it up to a climax, or I may
start with a burst of energy to knock them off their feet.
踊る時、僕はスローに踊り始め、それをクライマックスまで持っていったりすれ
ば、始めからエネルギーの炸裂させて終わらせたりする。

Either way, I'm going to tear up the stage.
そして僕は感動で涙がこみ上げるんだ。

The audience is very important when I perform.
踊る時に重要なのは観客なんだ。

They are the fuel that keeps my engine running.
言ってみれば観客は僕のエンジンの燃料なんだよ。

When I get a good response, I can go on forever.
観客のノリが良ければ僕は持ってる力以上の力が湧いてくる。

Not until the performance is over and I am sweating do I realize how
much energy I have spent.
ダンスが終わると、かいた汗でどれだけ自分が熱中してたかに気づくよ。

Then comes the applause...and if I am lucky, a standing ovation. People
stand up and whistle, shout my name...All this for me is pure happiness.
そして観客からの拍手が…もし僕がラッキーだったらみんな立ち上がって口笛を
吹いたり僕の名前を口々に叫んでくれたり…それって僕にとって
純粋にもっとも幸せなんだ。
