Hello everyone! Greetings! My name is Noah Friedberg. I am a new lesson
partner here at B`s. I look forward to meeting you!
私はノア・フレッドバーグ、ｂの新しい講師です。
みなさんにお会いできるのを楽しみにしています！
I was born on the east coast of the U.S. in Norwich, Connecticut.
アメリカの東部、コネティカット州のノーウィッチで生まれました。
Norwich is about 2 hours north of New York City by car.
It is a quiet New England town.
ノーウィッチはニューヨークまで車で２時間です。
静かなニューイングランドです。
After a year at college in New England (Massachusetts)
I moved to Brooklyn, New York City where I attended Brooklyn College.
マサチューセッツ州の大学に入って１年後、ニューヨークのブルックリンに
引っ越しました。（ブルックリン大学の写真）
I lived there for 6 years and this time was very exciting for me.
そこに６年間住んだですが、とっても刺激的でした。
I studied black literature with some amazing African American professors.
私はアフリカンアメリカ人の講師から文学を学びました。
Usually I was the only white person in my classes of 30 or 40 students!
３０〜４０人の生徒の中で、私は唯一の白人でした。
Brooklyn is a fascinating place to live because it is the most
international place in the world.
ブルックリンは生活をするには魅力的な所です。
世界でもっとも国際色豊かな町なんですよ。
There are more cultures in Brooklyn, NYC than anywhe else.
ブルックリンには他のどこよりもたくさんの文化があります。
In every class there were students from every culture:
Chinese, African, African-American, Russian, Polish,
Jamaican, Puerto Rican, Arab, Jewish, Korean, Japanese---
the list does not end!
中国、アフリカ、アフリカンアメリカン、ロシア、ポーランド
ジャマイカ、プエルトリコ、アラブ、ユダヤ、韓国、日本など、挙げきれないほどの
国々の生徒が、それぞれのクラスにいました。
It was great because when the professor asked a question
I would hear the opinion of the world!
それって素晴らしいですよね、だって教授が質問をすると
世界中の意見が聞けるんですから。
During my time in Brooklyn I had a band with 3 French members, 2
African-American members and myself.
ブルックリンにいた時、私は３人のフランス人、２人のアフリカンアメリカン、
そして私でバンドをやっていました。
For a year and a half we played every week in NYC
and we went to Paris and Amsterdam to perform two ｔimes.
It was a really amazing experience.
１年半、私たちはニューヨークで毎週演奏をし、２回ほど、パリやアムステルダムに
演奏しにいったんですよ。凄い経験になりましたよ、ほんとに。
After 5 or 6 years in NYC, I needed a change so I moved to Nagoya for
almost 2 years.
５〜６年ニューヨークで過ごしたのですが、何か変化がほしくなり
名古屋で２年間過ごしました。
I always wanted to study another language and live in a foreign country-
especially in Asia, so to Nagoya I went.
いつも海外で語学を学びたいと思っていたのですが、アジアに興味があったのｄ
名古屋を選びました。
I had a great time there studying Japanese
and was so happy to eat Japanese food everyday.
日本語を学びながら、素敵な時間を過ごし、毎日、日本食を堪能しました。
I made so many good friends!
I taught kindergarten in the morning and adult class at night.
ここにはたくさんの友達がいます。
朝は幼稚園で、夜は大人に英語を教えました。
After living in Nagoya I moved to Hawaii where I became a high school
English teacher.
名古屋から次はハワイに引越し、高校の英語の教師をしました。
Hawaii`s culture is very, very different from mainland
America so it was almost like being in a foreign country again even though
everyone spoke English.
ハワイの文化はアメリカ本土とは全く違って、みんな英語を話すけど
外国に来ている様な気分でした。
My students were such mix of cultures!
It reminded me of Brooklyn.
私の生徒達は文化が交じり合っていたので
ブルックリンを思い出しました。
In my classes of 30 students there were Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Samoan,
Hawaiian, Maori- the list goes on and on.
私のクラスには日本人、韓国人、中国人、サモア人、ハワイアン、マオリ族など
いろいろな国の生徒が３０人くらいいました。
White students were a minority and many students were of mixed ethnicity.
白人は殆ど居なく、たくさんの生徒は民族の血が混じっていました。
I lived on the island of Kauai.
>From the west, it is the first of the Hawaiian Islands.
It is right next to Oahu, but it is much different.
私はカウアイ島に住んでいました。
一番西に位置する島です。オアフ島の隣でしたが、そことは全く違います。
Ｔhere are only 60,000 people living there and 20,000 are
tourists at all times.
６万人の住人に対し、いつでも２万にの観光客がいます。
Perhaps it is the most beautiful natural place in the world!
>From what I have been told it looks a lot like Okinawa.
たぶんそこは世界でもっとも綺麗な自然なところです。
話を聞いてる限り、そこは沖縄みたいでしょ？！
I had a great time there surfing and hiking through the mountains.
I also had a great reggae band there and we recorded an album in a really
ncestudio. We still have a song on the radio!
サーフィンをしたり、山にハイキングへ行ったり、素敵な時間を過ごせました。
ハワイでは、レゲーバンドの一員で、ＮＣＥスタジオでアルバムのレコーディン
グもしたんです。まだ、曲がラジオで流れたりします。
Wow! Tokyo`s winter sure is cold after three years in Hawaii!
But I am loving Tokyo so much!
ハワイから３年経って、東京ってほんとに寒いですね！
でも東京がすごく好きになってきました！
People ask me recently why I came here.
Well, there are three main reasons:
みんなが私に質問するんですが、なんでここに来たかって。
う〜ん、三つの理由があるんですが・・・
1) I wanted to work as an English teacher again.
�，泙拭�英語の教師がやりい
2) I wanted to live in the big city again where I can meet many
musicians, producers, club owners and play alot of music.
�▲潺紂璽献轡礇鵝▲廛蹈妊紂璽機次▲�ラブのオーナーに出会うチャンスが
東京にはあるから、そこでまたたくさん音楽を演奏したい
3)I think Japanese culture is very interesting so I wanted to live in
Japan and study Japanese again.
�Ｆ�本の文化は凄く興味深いから、日本に住んで、日本語の勉強をしたい

and I look forward to getting to know you!
