Brrrr... Hi, all!

ブルブル‥こんにちは、皆さん！

I guess it's that time of year again- when I become more of a homebody,
having dinner at home more often and watching more TV.
With the heater on in my cozy apartment,
I have no desire to step out into the winter cold...

私が普段よりもっと出不精になって、家で夕食を食べて、
いつもよりテレビを観る、この季節がまたやって来たわ。
居心地のよいアパートにある暖房のおかげで、
冬の寒さの中に出かけたいという気持ちにならないの...

well, unless someone says-- "Snowboarding." The magic word.

そう、誰かが魔法の言葉“スノーボード”を言わない限りはね！

The mention of snowboarding can actually have me looking forward to being
outside in the cold. The added mention of a "shinkansen" ride can have me
rushing out of the house before sunrise(!) and on the first train for Tokyo Station.

スノーボードについて触れることは実は私に寒さを楽しみにさせてくれるわ。
更に“新幹線”ついては私を日の出前（！）に家から出させて、
東京駅行きの始発電車に乗らせてくれるの。

In fact, a ride on the "party train" excites me just as much as the snowboarding.
It's a few precious hours with friends.

実は、新幹線に乗ることはスノーボードと同じくらいワクワクしちゃうの。
友達と一緒の貴重な2、3時間よ！

Sitting across from each other, it starts out a sleepy ride, where coffee,
beer, and "shochu" are equally popular morning beverages.

向かい合って座って、眠たいドライブが始まるわ。
そこではコーヒー、ビール、焼酎が人気の飲み物なの！

Awakening one-by-one, we start conversation with a competition as to who
slept the latest or woke up the earliest or slept the least.

目を覚ますと、誰が一番最後に眠ったか、誰が最初に起きたかの会話を始めるの。

The food cart wheels by a few times, and each time,
we order more drinks and finger food-- a full-course breakfast.

2、3回車内販売のカートが来る度に、
私たちはより沢山の飲み物とスナックを注文する“フルコース”の朝食よ。

And as we glance out the window, anticipating and imagining a fun-filled
day on the slopes, the scenery slowly changes from concrete to snowy fields.
It gets me out of the house every time...

傾斜での楽しみに満ちた日を想像しながら窓の外に目を逸らすと、
景色はコンクリートから雪景色にゆっくり変わるわ。
この景色が私を毎回家から出してくれるの‥
