New Winter Hobby!

新しい冬の楽しみ方！

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!

みなさん、素敵なクリスマスとお正月を過ごせたかしら？

I originally wanted to go ice skating in Minatomirai, but at the last minute went to Yuzawa in Niigata.

本当はみなとみらいにスケートしに行きたかったんだけど、
直前になって新潟の湯沢に行くことにしたの。

It was my first time going by Shinkansen,
I was very excited! It only took an hour and a half to get from Tokyo station, and the train goes straight to the resort.

新幹線に乗るのが初めてだったから
とってもワクワクしたわ！
リゾート地へ一直線、
東京駅からたったの1時間半で着いてしまうのね。

We went snowboarding on Christmas Eve, it was my first time and I was very nervous!

クリスマスイヴにスノーボードに行ったんだけど、
初めてだったからすごく緊張したわ！

We had been skiing the year before, and I was really bad at it - I couldn`t even stop!
So I was worried about snowboarding, everyone had told me that it was way more difficult than skiing. I was surprised though, it turned out to be a lot easier than skiing!

スキーには昨年行ったことがあったんだけど、
私は本当に下手で・・・止まることすらできなかったの！
みんなスノーボードはスキーよりもずっと難しいって言うから
実際スノーボートをやってみてスキーよりも全然簡単だと
わかったときには驚いたわ。

My boyfriend taught me the basics, how to stand,
how to keep my balance, and most importantly how to stop and by the end of the day I could go all the way down the beginner course without falling over once!

私のボーイフレンドがスノーボードの基本である
立ち方、バランスの取り方、
そして一番重要な止まり方を教えてくれて、
その日が終わる頃にはビギナーコースを転ばないで
上から下まですべりきれるようになったのよ！

That night we went to the onsen at the hotel - it was my first time in the onsen too, and I loved it! It was so nice to relax my muscles at the end of the day.

その夜私たちはホテルの温泉に行ったの。
-　温泉も初めてだったけど、とっても気に入ったわ！
一日の終わりに筋肉を休められてとてもよかったわ。

The hotel room was really nice too, it was a very traditional Japanese style room, with tatami mats and futons.

ホテルの部屋もとても素敵だったわ。
畳と布団があるとても伝統的な日本の部屋よ。

We had our dinner brought to our room and laid out for us. We were amazed at all the food! There were so many small dishes to choose from. It was delicious!

夕食は部屋まで運んでくれて、並べてくれたの。
料理の全部に目をみはったわ！
悩んじゃうくらい小さなお料理がたくさんあったわ。
おいしかった！

Then on Christmas day we went out on the slopes again. I wasn`t too sore from the day before, and I managed to get a little better with my balance.

それからクリスマスの日にはもう一度ゲレンデに行ったの。
昨日からの筋肉痛はそれほど悪くは無かったし、
バランスもうまくとれるようになってきたわ。

At the end of the day we came back to Tokyo - I fell asleep in the train!

その日の終わりに東京に戻ってきたの。
-　電車で居眠りしちゃった！

Since then I`ve been a couple more times, and I`m improving! If I could I`d go snowboarding every week!

それ以来、何回かスノーボードに行って、上達してるのよ！
できれば毎週行きたいくらい！
