Hey there, everyone! My name is Karen, and I’m brand new to the “b” Family!
皆さん、こんにちは！ｂに新しく仲間入りしましたカレンです！

I’m from Miami, Florida, but I have lived in Japan for five years. I went
to the University of Florida. I’m very cheerful
and outgoing, so I hope to enjoy talking and learning with you. My hobbies
are photography, creative writing,
blogging, traveling, and learning languages. When I was a university
student, I lived in Rome, Italy for six weeks.
私はフロリダ州マイアミ出身で、日本には5年間住んでいます。
フロリダ大学に通っていました。
私はとても元気で社交的なので、話したり、学んだりすることを
あなたと一緒に楽しめると思います。
私の趣味は写真、創作でものを書くこと、ブログ、旅行、言語を学習することです。
大学時代には6週間イタリアのローマに住んでいたこともあります。

Some people say that I have a “Japanese heart” because I like many things
from Japanese culture. I like traditional
things like calligraphy (shodo), wearing kimono, and reading
The Tale of　Genji by Murasaki Shikubu (in English).
However, I also enjoy Japanese comedians, watching TV programs-- especially
dramas, variety and quizes, and listening to J-pop music.
To tell the truth, I learned lots of Japanese　from music, tv, and movies!
私は日本の文化に関するたくさんのことが好きなので、よく"日本人の心"を持っていると言われます。
私は書道や着物を着たり、紫式部の源氏物語を（英語で）読んだりするのが好きです。
でも、日本のコメディーや、テレビを見るのも楽しんでいます。特にドラマやいろいろな
クイズ番組やJ-POPを聴くのは楽しいです。
実はね、音楽、テレビ、映画から日本語をたくさん学んだのよ！

Until this past August, I worked at a high school in Tottori.
Have you ever been to Tottori?
I promise there is more to Tottori than just the Tottori Sand Dune and the 20th Century Pear.
It’s also home to Aoyama Gosho, the creator of
“Detective Conan”, and Mizuki Shigeru, the creator of “Gegege no Kitaro”.
Also, the young comedian, Imoto Ayako, is from Tottori!
In Tottori, the “Matsuba” Crab is very famous, too!
Please visit Tottori if you get the chance.
Coming to Japan has been my dream since I was 14.
I am happy that I made my high school dream come true!
この前の8月まで、私は鳥取県の高校で働いていました。鳥取県に行ったことありますか？
鳥取には、鳥取砂丘や20世紀梨だけではなくもっとたくさんのものが絶対にあります。
「名探偵コナン」の作者の青山剛昌や、「ゲゲゲの鬼太郎」の作者の水木しげるの実家も
あったりします。
若いお笑い芸人のイモトアヤコも鳥取出身です！鳥取では松葉ガニもとっても有名です。
もし機会があったら是非鳥取に来てください。日本に来ることは私が14歳のときからの夢でした。
高校のときの夢がかなって私は幸せです。

I am studying for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
My goal is to pass level two, the intermediate grade, this year.
I will do my best. I hope spending time in the heart of Tokyo will
help improve my Japanese.
I hope to discover more about myself through my time here in Tokyo and with you at “b”!
私は日本語の検定試験の勉強をしています。私の目標はレベル２という中級の試験に
今年中に合格することです。ベストをつくします。
東京の真ん中で過ごしていることが私の日本語上達に役立つと思っています。
東京にいる間に、もしくはｂであなたと一緒にいるときに、もっと自分自身についても
掘り下げていけたらいいと思います。
