February is here and that means that it is time for DELICIOUS chocolate.
As you know, Japanese females give chocolate to men on Valentine's day.
This includes coworkers and managers as well as boyfriends and husbands.

二月になりましたね！と言うことはおいしいチョコレートの時期ってことだ！
日本では、ヴァレンタインに女性から男性にチョコをあげるんですよね！
彼氏やご主人と同じように、同僚やマネージャーにも義理チョコがあるんだよね。

Did you know that the American Valentine's day is much different?
In America, men AND women give gifts to each other.
アメリカでは、全然違うってご存じでしたか？
男性と女性がそれぞれプレゼントをあげるんですよ！

Gifts can be chocolate, but we more often give a dozen roses,
jewelry or expensive dinners.
It is very romantic, so we don't give obligation chocolate
(girichoco) and we do not have white day.
プレゼントはチョコレートでもいいんですが、
薔薇の花束、ジュエリー、食事が多いかな。
とてもロマンティックなもので、義理チョコやらホワイトデーは無いんです。

Did you know that the original Saint Valentine was a priest
who performed secret marriage ceremonies for young Roman couples?
ほんとのセイント・ヴァレンタインは若いローマのカップルの為に
シークレット結婚式を開く神父様だったのをご存じでしたか？

Roman Emperor Claudius II needed unmarried soldiers to fight for Rome,
so he made a law against marriage.
ローマ法王クラウディウス二世は国のために戦う独身の兵士を必要としていました。
そしれ彼は、兵士を増やすため、結婚に不利な法律を創ってしまったのです。

That means that nobody could be husband and wife no matter how much they loved each other!
それは、お互いがどんなに愛していても誰もが結婚できないとを意味していました。

Because Saint Valentine was a very kind priest,
he invited young couples to be secretly married in his ceremony.
When Claudius heard about this, he was furious.
He threw Saint Valentine in jail　and ordered his execution.
In jail, Saint Valentine fell in love　with the jailer's blind daughter.
セイント・バレンタインは親切心から、若いカップルのために
秘密の結婚式を挙げてくれていたんだ。
クラウディウスがそれを知り、激怒した。
そして、セイント・ヴァレンタインを牢屋に閉じ込め、死刑執行を命じた。
牢屋では、セイント・ヴァレンタインが看守の目の見えない娘に恋をしてしまった。

He loved her so much that he cured her blindness　with his faith.
When Saint Valentine was executed, he left a note for the　daughter.
The note was signed "from your Valentine".
彼は彼女を心から愛し、彼女の眼を信仰で治したのです。
彼は死刑執行の時、彼女に手紙を残しました。
そこには、”あなたのヴァレンタインより”と記されていたのです。

Americans still send cards on February 14 signed "from your Valentine"
アメリカでは今でも2月14日にカードを送ります。
あなたのヴァレンタインより・・・と。
