英語面接でよく聞かれる質問と回答例｜自己紹介・志望動機・強み弱み・逆質問

英語面接では、難しい単語を並べることよりも、質問に対して結論から分かりやすく答え、自分の経験を応募先でどう生かせるか伝えることが大切です。

この記事では、英語面接でよく聞かれる質問を、短く自然な回答例とともに紹介します。自己紹介、志望動機、転職理由、強み・弱み、実績、逆質問まで、面接の流れに沿って練習できます。

英語面接で見られている3つのポイント

• 質問を正しく理解できるか
• 結論と理由を筋道立てて説明できるか
• 経験や強みを応募先への貢献につなげられるか

英語が完璧でなくても、短い文で要点を伝え、具体例を添えれば十分に説得力が出ます。分からない質問を推測で答えるより、確認してから答えるほうが誠実です。

英語面接の答え方は「結論・具体例・貢献」

長く話そうとすると、途中で何を答えているのか分からなくなりがちです。次の3段階で組み立てましょう。

1. 結論：My strength is … / I’m interested in this role because …
2. 具体例：For example, … / In my previous role, …
3. 貢献：I can contribute by … / I believe this experience will help me …

実績を説明するときは、Situation（状況）、Task（課題）、Action（行動）、Result（結果）のSTARで整理すると話しやすくなります。

面接開始時の挨拶

Interviewer: Good morning. Thank you for coming in today.
You: Good morning. Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

1. Tell me about yourself.｜自己紹介をしてください

職歴をすべて読み上げず、「現在の仕事・得意分野・応募職種との接点」を60秒ほどでまとめます。

回答例：
I’ve worked in customer support for five years, mainly helping corporate clients. In my current role, I coordinate with our sales and product teams to solve customer issues. I’m now looking for an opportunity to use that experience in a more international environment.

意味：法人顧客を中心とするカスタマーサポートに5年間携わってきました。現在は営業・製品チームと連携して顧客課題を解決しています。その経験をより国際的な環境で生かせる機会を探しています。

2. Why are you interested in this position?｜なぜこの職種を志望したのですか

回答例：
I’m interested in this position because it combines client communication with project coordination. I’ve developed both skills in my current role, and I’d like to use them to support your company’s global clients.

「成長したい」だけで終わらず、求人票にある業務と自分の経験を結びつけるのがポイントです。

3. Why do you want to work for our company?｜なぜ当社なのですか

回答例：
I’m impressed by your focus on long-term customer relationships. That approach matches the way I’ve worked with clients, and I believe my experience in improving customer retention would contribute to your team.

企業サイト、サービス、最近の発表などを調べ、「この会社だからこそ」の理由を一つ入れましょう。

4. Why are you leaving your current job?｜転職理由を教えてください

回答例：
I’ve learned a great deal in my current position, especially about account management. I’m now ready to take on a role with more responsibility and work with international stakeholders.

現職への不満ではなく、得た経験と次に挑戦したいことを前向きに伝えます。

5. What are your strengths?｜あなたの強みは何ですか

回答例：
One of my strengths is staying organized when priorities change. For example, I managed three urgent client requests at the same time by clarifying deadlines and coordinating with each team. As a result, we completed all three projects on schedule.

強みを表す形容詞を探すなら「性格を英語で表すフレーズ」も便利です。ただし、形容詞だけでなく実例まで話しましょう。

6. What is your biggest weakness?｜弱みは何ですか

回答例：
I used to spend too much time checking small details. To improve, I now set a time limit for each task and confirm priorities with my manager. This has helped me work more efficiently without lowering quality.

業務に致命的な弱点を選ぶのではなく、「以前の課題・改善行動・現在の変化」の順で答えます。

7. Tell me about a challenge you faced.｜困難を乗り越えた経験は

回答例：
A key client asked us to change the project scope one week before launch. I first confirmed their highest priorities, then worked with our internal teams to revise the schedule. We delivered the essential features on time, and the client renewed the contract.

ここではSTARが有効です。自分が取った行動と、数字・納期・顧客評価などの結果を明確にしましょう。

8. Why should we hire you?｜なぜあなたを採用すべきですか

回答例：
You’re looking for someone who can communicate with clients and coordinate across teams. I’ve done both for the past five years, and I can contribute from the start while continuing to learn your products and processes.

求人票で求められている能力を二つほど選び、自分の経験で裏づけます。

9. Where do you see yourself in five years?｜5年後はどうなっていたいですか

回答例：
In five years, I’d like to be leading cross-functional projects and helping junior team members grow. First, I want to build a strong understanding of this role and consistently deliver results.

肩書きだけでなく、身につけたい能力や会社にどう貢献したいかを話すと自然です。

10. Tell me about a time you disagreed with a colleague.｜同僚と意見が合わなかった経験は

回答例：
A colleague and I had different views on the project schedule. I asked them to explain their concerns, and we compared the risks of both options. We agreed on a phased launch that met the deadline and reduced technical risk.

相手を否定せず、「聞く・比較する・合意する」という協働姿勢を見せます。

質問が聞き取れない・分からないときの英語

• Could you repeat the question, please?（質問をもう一度お願いできますか？）
• Could you rephrase that, please?（別の言い方でお願いできますか？）
• Just to make sure I understand, are you asking about my current role?（確認ですが、現在の職務についてのご質問でしょうか？）
• May I take a moment to think about that?（少し考える時間をいただけますか？）

一度聞き返すこと自体は問題ではありません。黙り込むより、状況をコントロールできる表現を準備しておきましょう。

逆質問：Do you have any questions for us?

「特にありません」で終わらず、仕事内容や期待値を理解する質問を2〜3個用意します。

• What would success look like in this role during the first six months?
  最初の6か月で、どのような状態が成功と見なされますか？
• What are the team’s current priorities?
  チームが現在優先していることは何ですか？
• How do team members usually collaborate across departments?
  部署を越えて、普段どのように連携していますか？
• What are the next steps in the interview process?
  今後の選考プロセスを教えていただけますか？

求人票や面接中にすでに説明された内容を繰り返し質問しないよう、候補を複数用意しておくと安心です。

英語面接の終わり方

You: Thank you for your time today. I enjoyed learning more about the role and the team. I look forward to hearing from you.

最後は、時間へのお礼、話を聞けた感想、連絡を楽しみにしていることを短く伝えます。

• カメラ・マイク・接続を前日と開始15分前に確認する
• 表示名をビジネス向けの氏名にする
