「3日後に会いましょう」「半年後には30歳になります」の「〜後」は、英語でどう言えばよいのでしょうか。
今から数えて〜後なら、基本は in＋期間です。「3日後」は in three days、「半年後」は in six months と表せます。
ただし、過去の出来事を語るときの「その3日後」なら three days later、基準となる出来事を示すなら three days after the meeting のように表現します。

過去の物語や出来事を順番に説明するときは later が便利です。「現在」ではなく、直前に話した時点を基準にします。
未来についても、基準となる時点が文脈で分かれば使えます。

in three daysとthree days from nowの違い
in three days と three days from now は、どちらも「今から3日後」です。
- I’ll finish it in three days.
- I’ll finish it three days from now.
どちらも「3日後に終わらせます」。from now は「今から数えて」という基準をより明確にしたいときに便利です。日常会話では短い in three days がよく使われます。
in three daysは「3日以内」の意味になる？
in three days は、文脈によって「3日後に」と「3日かけて・3日で」の両方に解釈されることがあります。

未来の時点を表す文では「3日後」、何かを完了するのに必要だった時間を表す文では「3日で」と捉えます。

単独で未来の予定を言うなら、通常は in three days を使います。

afterの後ろに期間だけを置く
