よくある間違い
× Society is polarizing.
文法的には可能ですが、「社会が二極化した状態になっている」と言うなら Society is becoming polarized. のほうが明確です。
× The issue polarized to people.
polarize は他動詞なので、前置詞 to を入れません。
○ The issue polarized people.

分かれた先には into を使います。
○ People split into two groups.
二極化と格差拡大は同じとは限らない
