「略述する」は英語で、対象を短く述べるなら briefly describe、主要な項目や概要を示すなら outline、長い内容を要約するなら summarize が代表的です。
日本語ではどれも「簡単に述べる」ですが、英語では短く描写するのか、骨組みを示すのか、元の内容を縮めてまとめるのかで動詞が変わります。難しい語が出なければ、I explained the main points. と言えば十分です。

briefly describeの使い方と語順
briefly describe + 対象、または describe + 対象 + briefly の形です。describeの後ろにaboutは付けません。

outline + 計画・方針・理由 と目的語を直接続けます。名詞のan outlineは「概要・骨子」です。
