よくある間違い
in at worstとはしない
at worst 自体が副詞句なので、通常は前に in を付けません。
× In at worst, it will take a week.
○ At worst, it will take a week.
theを付けない
定型表現は at worst です。通常、at the worst とは言いません。一方、名詞句を含む in the worst-case scenario や if the worst comes to the worst では the が現れます。
「最悪だ！」の感想には使わない
単独の感想として「最悪だ！」と言いたいなら、That’s the worst! や This is awful! が自然です。at worst は結果の範囲を見積もる表現です。
