My name is Shailly Sharma and I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello!!!!
I’m originally from Canada, but I have also lived in USA for over 7
years, so I feel close to both countries and I love them both!!!!
やあ皆、元気？
僕の名前はシャイリー・シャーマ。今日はちょっと自己紹介と挨拶をさせてもらいたいんだ！！！
僕はカナダ出身だけど、アメリカにも7年住んでいたからどちらの国も自分の国
みたいなもので本当に両方とも大好きな国なんだ！！！
Both countries have many things in common and one example is that
they both have Thanksgiving Day.
Canada’s Thanksgiving Day was on October 12, 2009 this year and
we celebrate it in Canada to end the harvest season.
We are thanking the land and God for a great harvest season.
カナダもアメリカも、共通点がたくさんあるんだよ。例えば感謝祭！
今年のカナダの感謝祭は、10月12日だったんだ。
この日にカナダの収穫期の終わりを祝うんだよ。
みんなで素晴らしい実りの秋を、大地と神に感謝するんだ。
In USA, Thanksgiving will be held on November 26, 2009 this year.
In America, thanksgiving is celebrated to give thanks to God and
the Native Americans for helping the pilgrims (English settlers) survive the brutal winter.
アメリカの今年の感謝祭は、11月26日なんだ。
アメリカでは、神や先住民に、最初の移住者（イギリス人開拓者）が極寒の冬を
生き延びるのを助けたことに感謝して祝うんだ。
For me Thanksgiving Day has always been a special day where
I can get together with my family and have a big feast.
Since I haven’t lived in Canada for a long time, my close friends are my
family now and I always celebrate Thanksgiving no matter where I am.
So this year I will celebrate Thanksgiving in Tokyo with my friends and
I will make a big feast for everyone.
僕にとっての感謝祭は、いつも特別な日なんだ。この時には家族みんなが集まっ
てすごいご馳走を食べることができるからね。
長い間カナダを離れてしまったから、僕の親しい友人たちは、今では僕の家族
みたいなものなんだ。だから僕がどこにいようと、この感謝祭はいつもお祝いをするんだ。
I love cooking, so I will enjoy making many things.
Traditionally in America and Canada,
we eat turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a variety of vegetables,
salads, cranberry sauce, rolls etc.
This year I will make all of the above, but I want to make a Japanese dish also.
僕は料理が大好きなんだ。だからいろんな料理を作るが楽しいんだ。
アメリカやカナダの伝統では、
七面鳥やスタッフィング、マッシュポテトやいろんな野菜、サラダ、クランベ
リーソース、ロールパンとかを食べるんだ。
今年僕は、いま挙げた料理をぜーんぶ作るつもりなんだ。
だけど、日本料理も作りたいと思ってるんだ。
So I want everyone to write me their favorite Japanese dish recipe
(In English of course) and I will choose
one to cook at my Thanksgiving Day dinner party!
And I will give the winner a prize!!
