Today it’s snowing a lot in Kanto! The snow is very beautiful on the trees, and actually, I like cold weather!
However, I was born in Florida, so I’m always amazed to see so much snow. Anyway, I thought this cold day might be a good chance to share about the “Sunshine State” and the things you can enjoy there!

今日は関東でたくさん雪が降っているわね！木に積もった雪がとても美しいわ。実は、私は寒い天気が好きなの！
ですが、私はフロリダ生まれなので、こんなにたくさんの雪を見るといつも驚いてしまうの。とにかく、こんな寒い日は“Sunshine State（陽光の州）”のことや皆さんが楽しめる話題について共有する良い機会かもしれないと思ったのよ。

The most famous sightseeing place in Florida is, of course, Walt Disney World. In fact, it is known as the largest, most-visited theme park resort in the entire world! Walt Disney World in Florida includes four major theme parks: the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They have a water park section, too.　Personally, I like Epcot, which has a large “World Showcase” where you can experience the culture and food of eleven different countries around the world.

フロリダで一番有名な観光地は、もちろん、ウォルト・ディズニー・ワールド。実際、世界中で一番大きく、観光客も多いテーマパークとしても知られているわ！フロリダのウォルト・ディズニー・ワールドには、マジックキングダム、エプコット、ディズニー・ハリウッドスタジオ、ディズニー・アニマルキングダムという4つの主要テーマパークがあるの。ウォーターパークもあるのよ。個人的には、エプコットが好きだわ。そこには広い“World Showcase（各国パビリオン）”があって、世界11カ国の文化や料理を体験することができるのよ。

If you do go to Disney World, you’ll be near Orlando, so you may want to extend your visit and enjoy some of the many other sights.
For example, Sea World is a great place to go if you want to see dolphins, killer whales, sea lions, penguins, and etc.
If you want to get up close and actually swim with a dolphin, you can try Discovery Cove! And if you want to get (fairly) close to a more dangerous animal, the American alligator, then there is also a place called Gatorland. (I haven’t been there but it sounds interesting, anyway.) If you’re interested in non-animal types of entertainment, that’s fine too! There are plenty of places. Just look up “Orlando” and see what you come up with!
もしディズニー・ワールドに行くとしたら、オーランドに近いので、足を伸ばして他の観光名所をいくつか楽しんでも良いかもしれないわね。例えば、もしイルカやシャチ、アシカやペンギンなどを見たいなら、シー・ワールドが最高よ。もっと近づいたり、実際にイルカと泳いだりしたいならディスカバリー・コーブに行ってみると良いわ！そして、もっと危険な動物、アメリカンアリゲーターと（かなり）近づきたいなら、ゲイターランドという場所もあるわよ。（私はそこに行ったことがないんだけれど、とにかく面白そうよね）　もし動物以外のエンターテイメントに興味があるのなら、それも良し！たくさんの観光地があるわ。“オーランド”を調べてみて、思いついたものを見てみてね！

Now, all that is great fun, but if you’re the type who would prefer a less crowded, somewhat quieter vacation, you might want to visit the Florida Keys. At the southern tip of Florida, there’s a beautiful chain of islands. If you enjoy snorkeling, you may want to visit the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. If you want to see the coral reef, but you don’t want to snorkel or dive, no problem! You can take a ride on the park’s glass-bottomed boat and view the coral and fish while staying nice and dry! On the other hand, if you’re more of the literary type, you might want to visit the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West.
By the way, Key West is the final island of the Florida Keys and the southernmost point of the United States.
さて、すべてとても楽しいのだけど、もし人ごみが少なくてもう少し静かな休暇が好きなら、フロリダ・キーズを訪れてみると良いわ。フロリダ南端部で、美しい列島があるのよ。シュノーケリングを楽しみたいなら、ジョン・ペンネカンプ・コーラルリーフ州立公園に行ってみて。さんご礁は見たいけど、シュノーケリングやダイビングはしたくない、というのでも問題なしよ！公園のグラスボートに乗って、濡れることなく良い気持ちでさんご礁や魚たちを眺めることができるわ！それに対して、もっと文学的なタイプなら、キーウェストにあるアーネスト・ヘミングウェイ博物館を訪れてみると良いわよ。ところで、キーウェストはフロリダ・キーズの最端の島でアメリカの最南端なの。

Now, if you prefer a MUCH less crowded vacation, Florida still has just the thing for you . . . the Everglades! Here, you can really go out in the wild on an airboat ride. An airboat looks like a flat boat with a great big fan on the back of it. From the airboat, you can see the swamp close up, complete with wild alligators, deer, muskrats, and various birds. Who knows what you’ll see if you’re really quiet and you keep your eyes wide open! Just don’t lean too far over the edge of the boat if you see a gator!!!
また、もっと人ごみの少ない場所がお好みなら、フロリダにはまだ紹介できる場所があるわ・・・エバーグレースよ！ここでは、エアボートに乗って本当に自然の中へ行くことができるの。エアボートは背面にとっても大きな扇風機が付いたフラットボートのような船よ。エアボートからは、野生のワニや、鹿、マスクラット、いろいろな鳥たちのいる湿地を間近で見ることができるのよ。静かに、そして目を大きく見開き続けていたらどんなものに出会えるかわからないわ！　ただ、もしワニを見るとしたらボートの端に寄りかかり過ぎないようにね！！！

Finally, throughout the state, there are naturally plenty of beautiful beaches where you can swim, play, or just relax! Florida is a great place to visit, and there are so many places to go that there’s no way I could describe them all here! However, if you do go to Florida, I recommend staying for a whole week at the very least, and preferably longer! It’s a really long way there; much further than just going to California, so anything less than a week would be, at least in my opinion, too short! And, after all, one week is barely enough time to see all of Walt Disney, much less all the other wonderful places.
最後に、フロリダ全体には泳いだり、遊んだり、リラックスできる綺麗な海岸がたくさんあるの。フロリダは旅行するには最高よ。行くところがたくさんありすぎて、ここですべて説明しきれない！でもね、もしフロリダに行くなら、少なくとも丸一週間、できればもっと長く滞在することをおすすめするわ。とても長い道のりで、カリフォルニアに行くよりもずっと遠いので、一週間以下は、私が思うに、物足りないわね！やっぱり、一週間だと他のすばらしい場所を除いて、ぎりぎりウォルトディズニーをすべて見て回れるくらいかしら。

One, there’s one more very important point: be sure to try Florida’s delicious fried catfish, along with hush puppies, coleslaw, and a nice tall glass of southern-style iced tea!
ひとつ、とても大切なポイントがあるわ。必ずフロリダの美味しいナマズフライを食べてみること。ハッシュパピーとコールスロー、すてきな長めのグラスに入れた南部風アイスティと一緒にね！
