Here’s some information about another place in Australia that inspired a Ghibli film!
Kata Tjuta /カタ・ジュタ/ is near Uluru. It is a religious place for the local Aborigines.
Its name means “many heads,” and the Australian explorer who discovered it in 1872 called it “The Olgas” after Queen Olga of Russia.
今回はジブリ作品に影響を与えたオーストラリアの他のスポットを紹介します！
カタ・ジュタはウルルの近くにあり、先住民族であるアボリジニにとって神聖なスポットです。
カタ・ジュタは「たくさんの頭」を意味し、1872年にこのスポットを発見したオーストラリアの探検家がロシアのオルガ王妃にちなんで『The Olgas（オルガス）』と呼びました。
The Aborigines believe that a giant snake called King Wanambi lives on the top of Kata Tjuta, and his breath can turn a light breeze into a hurricane.
Kata Tjuta is made of many large hills with valleys between them.
The wind blows very strongly in these valleys.
アボリジニは、カタ・ジュタの頂上にワナンビ王と呼ばれる大蛇が住んでいて、大蛇の息はそよ風をハリケーンに変えてしまえると信じています。
カタ・ジュタは多くの大きな丘から成り、その間に谷があります。
風はその谷間でとても強く吹きます。

Yes, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
But it’s said it also inspired another film, or maybe just a character.
