Memories of last summer by Bianca

In America, oftentimes summer is associated with graduation.
Summer is when school is out and for every senior in high school it is the end of their adolescence and the beginning of their adulthood.
This conclusion/ beginning is celebrated with a party thrown in the honor of the graduate.
Every summer practically every weekend was booked with one of my friends’ graduation parties.
アメリカでは夏といえば卒業式が思い浮かぶわ。
夏は年度末なので、高校の最終学年の生徒にとっては思春期が終わり、大人の階段を登る時期なんです。
この終わりと始まりを卒業パーティーでお祝いします。
毎年夏になると、毎週末の予定は友人達の卒業パーティーばかりだったわ。

This past summer was a very eventful one for me.
Last June I moved to Japan and right before I moved to Japan my little sister graduated high school.
昨年の夏は私にとって非常に思い出深いものでした。
6月に日本に越してきたんだけど、その直前に妹が高校を卒業したんです。

We threw her a party to celebrate this grand accomplishment.
It was special for everyone because it was the first party they went to after the pandemic.
It was an event that made everyone present feel as if after those 2 long years of confinement and chaos things were finally semi-returning back to normal.
私達は妹のためにパーティーを開いて盛大にお祝いしました。
パンデミック後の最初のパーティーだったので、皆にとって特別なものでした。
その場にいた全員が、大きな混乱の中制限された生活を送った2年間を経て、やっと少しずつ日常が戻りつつあることを感じられたイベントでした。

It was a black and white themed ball.
The dress code was elegante and you had to be in either white or black.
My sister was dressed in red to show that she was the guest of honor.
It was special for me because I got to see everyone I love in one place before I left home.
パーティーは白と黒をテーマにした舞踏会でした。
ドレスコードは「白か黒の上品な装い」。
主賓の妹は赤いドレスに身を包んでいました。
私にとっても家を離れる前に大好きなみんなに会えて良い思い出になったわ。
