We are now in the autumn season. This has to be my favourite season in
Japan. The air is very crisp and the leaves change colour into beautiful
reds and yellows. I recently heard that there is a famous Japanese proverb,
which says that autumn is for reading and eating. Reading English books is
a good way to learn new words and it can also tell you about Western culture.
One of my favourite books is The Time Traveller`s Wife. There will
also be a movie soon. The book tells about a man who can travel through
time, but he can`t choose when he travels. On his travels, he meets a
little girl. Through the years, she becomes older and he stays the same
age. Years later, she enters university and they meet again. Of course,
they fall in love. It`s a wonderful story, so I hope you can read it.
In this season, there are so many wonderful foods to enjoy such as fish and
vegetables. Outside my house in Tokyo, there is a persimmon tree and the
persimmons now are very ripe and delicious. Halloween will soon come too!
When I lived in Canada, we gave candy to children at Halloween and we also
carved a pumpkin and put a candle inside. Sometimes, we roasted pumpkin
seeds and ate them – it`s very delicious!

Enjoy the autumn season!
