Last time I wrote a blog about Australian bands and singers.
This time, I would like to introduce some famous Australians you may see in movies (part 1)!
Some of these may be a surprise. Did you know they were really Australian?
前回のブログではオーストラリア人のバンドや歌手の事を書きましたね。
今回は映画で見かけたことがありそうな有名なオーストラリア人を紹介したいです。中には本当にオーストラリア人なの？ってビックリする人もいるかも知れませんよ！

◆Hugh Jackman
I think everyone will know these two!
Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia.
He is extremely handsome and has been a part of the very popular “X-men” movie franchise, playing the role of Wolverine.
He is also very famous for his musical talents and has appeared on Broadway many times.
Before he was famous in Hollywood, Hugh Jackman could be seen on Australian television, in many television dramas.

ヒュー・ジャックマン
最初に紹介するふたりはきっと皆さんご存知だと思います。
ヒュー・ジャックマンさんはシドニーに生まれました。
すごいかっこいい男ですよ！彼は人気映画シリーズの「X-men」の登場人物のひとりであり、ウルヴァリンという人物を演じています。
そのうえ、演技の才能もすごくって何度もブロードウェイに出ています。
有名になる前のヒュー・ジャックマンさんはたくさんのオーストラリアのテレビドラマで観ることが出来たんですよ。

◆Russel Crowe
Russel Crowe, though born in New Zealand, he has lived in Australia nearly all his life.
Now, he lives in Sydney.
Before Hollywood, he could be seen acting on Australian TV on the long-running series “Neighbours”.
Russel Crowe is famous for his roles in “Gladiator”, “Les Mizerable”, “A Beautiful Mind” and “Master and Commander”.
For his role in “Gladiator”, Crowe won the Academy Award for Best Actor.

ラッセル・クロウ
ラッセル・クロウさんは、ニュージーランドに生まれオーストラリアで育ちです。
今、シドニーに住んでいます。
ハリウッドに出る前は、テレビの長寿番組「Neighbours」に出ていました。
ラッセル・クロウさんの有名な映画の役は「Gladiator」や「Les Mizerable」や「A Beautiful Mind」と「Master and Commander」。
クロウさんは「Gladiator」でアカデミー主演男優賞を手に入れました。

◆Geoffrey Rush
This very talented actor comes from the town of Toowoomba, in Queensland, but now lives in my home-town Melbourne.
He is famous for his role in the “Pirates of the Carribean” franchise and “the King`s Speech”.
He is also well known for his Shakespeare performances, theatre work, voice over work (you can hear him as the seagul in “Finding Nemo”).
He was one of the youngest people to win the Triple Crown of Acting (an Academy award, a Tony award and an Emmy award) and was also the first actor to win the Oscar, the BAFTA, the Golden Globe, the SAG Award, and the Critics’ Choice Award for a single performance.

ジェフリー・ラッシュ
こちらの才能あふれた俳優はクィーンズランド州のタウンバ出身で、今彼は私のホームタウンのメルボルンに住んでいます。
ラッシュさんは映画の役「Pirates of the Carribean」と「the King`s Speech」から有名です。
また彼はシェイクスピアのお芝居やナレーションでも有名です（例えば「Finding Nemo」の鴎）。

◆Guy Pearce
Guy Pearce grew up just outside of Melbourne in Geelong.
Guy started his career acting on Australian tv series, “Neighbours”, and is known for his strong singing abilities.
He first become very popular after being in the drag queen movie “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert”.
This was a very entertaining, Australian film about 3 drag queens driving a bus across the country.
It was so popular and iconic, it was turned into a successful musical on Broadway. Guy is also famous for his roles in “The King`s Speech”, “Rules of Engagement”, “Time Machine” and “Iron Man 3”.

ガイ・ピアース
ガイ・ピアースさんはメルボルンに近い町のジェロングで育ちました。
ガイさんは「Neighbours」というオーストラリアの番組でデビューし、素晴らしい歌唱力で有名です。
彼は「Priscilla: Queen of the Desert」と言うオカマの事映画から有名になりました。
オーストラリアの３人オカマがバスに全国をドライブするすごい面白い映画です。
「Priscilla: Queen of the Desert」はこ高い評価を受けて、ブロードウェイミュージカルとしても成功しました。
ガイさんは映画「The King`s Speech」や「Rules of Engagement」や「Time Machine」なと「Iron Man 3」に出ています。

◆Heath Ledger
Many people know the now iconic image of Batman`s The Joker.
The recent image of The Joker, was the work of Australian actor Heath Ledger.
Heath Ledger was born and raised in Perth, Australia.
Heath made his start on a number of Australian small movies and TV series, like that of “Home and Away”.
When he moved to the USA, he become famous for his roles in “A Knight`s Tale”, “Brokeback Mountain”, “The Patriot” and as `The Joker` in “The Dark Knight”. Unfortunately, in 2008,
Heath Ledger passed away in his New York hotel room from a drug overdose.
After his death, Heath was awarded many awards for his role as The Joker in both the USA and in Australia.

ヒース・レジャー
「バットマン」のジョーカー役で大変有名ですね。
ジョーカーといえばオーストラリアの俳優、ヒース・レジャーです。
ヒース・レジャーはオーストラリアの西オーストラリア州パースにて生まれ育ちました。
ヒースさんは様々なオーストラリアのインディー映画とテレビ番組、「Home and Away」等に出ていました。
アメリカに引っ越し、映画「A Knight`s Tale」や「Brokeback Mountain」や「The Patriot」や,一番人気なジョーカーの役「The Dark Knight」で有名になりました。
でも、２００８年に、ニューヨークのホテルで薬物過剰摂取で死亡しました。
死後、ヒースさんは一番人気なジョーカーの役でアメリカとオーストラリア両方で多く賞を受賞しました。

◆Luke, Chris and Liam Hemsworth
My final actors are a group of brothers.
The Hemsworth Brothers are current up-coming actors in Hollywood.
These boys made their debut on Australian TV,
Luke and Liam started on the long-running series “Neighbours”, while Chris was on equally long-running series “Home and Away”.
Oldest brother Luke is famous for his role in the comedy “Kill me three times”, middle brother Chris is best recognised from “Thor” in the Marvel movie franchise and Baby brother Liam is famous for his role in “The Hunger Games”.

ルークとクリスとリアム・ヘムズワース
最後は３兄弟の俳優です。
ヘムズワース兄弟はハリウッドで人気急上昇中の俳優です。
兄弟はオーストラリアのテレビ番組でデビューしました。
ルークさんとリアムさんは長寿番組の「Neighbours」で、同じようにクリスさんは「Home and Away」に出演しました。
一番上の兄ルークさんはコメディーの役「Kill me three times」で有名です。
二番上の兄クリスさんマーベル・コミックの映画「マイティ・ソー」で主人公のソーを演じました。
弟リアムさんは映画の役は「ハンガー・ケーム」で有名です。
