Tips to get the most out of your English lessons:
あなたのｂでのレッスンを最大限に生かすヒントよ！
(1) Review your lesson notes as soon as possible after the lesson, while
the new vocabulary is still fresh. Aim to learn up to ten new words or
expressions each lesson. For maximum learning, write a few new sentences
using the new words in a different context than that used in the lesson, &
bring these to your lesson for your teacher to check.
(1)レッスンの後、できるだけすぐにレッスンレコードを見直しましょう。
新出のボキャブラリーが記憶に新しいうちにね！
新しい単語や表現を一回のレッスンごとに10個覚えることを目標としましょう。
最大限に覚えるために、レッスンで使ったものとは別のシチュエーションや文脈で
その新しい単語を使った文を書きだしてみましょう。
そして、次のレッスンでレッスンパートナーにチェックしてもらってね。
(2) Carry a notebook around. Write down new or unfamiliar English words or
phrases that you happen to see or hear, then look them up on the internet
or in a dictionary, to understand their meanings & the various ways of
using them.
(2)メモ帳を持ち歩きましょう。偶然見たり聞いたりした知らない英単語やフレーズを書き出してね。
それから後でインターネットや辞書で調べ、意味や、様々な使い方を理解しましょう。
(3) Choose a favorite American TV drama & watch the same episode a few
times in English, until you can catch & understand a few of the
expressions. Write down new words & check their meanings. Dramas are full
of slang, humor & natural-speed talking, so it is a good way to increase
your all-round natural English base.
(3)一つ大好きな海外ドラマを選びましょう。
同じエピソードをいくつかの表現を聞き取れたり、理解できたりするまで数回英語で見てみてね。
そこに出てきた新しい単語を書き出して、意味をチェックしましょう。
ドラマってスラングやユーモアがあるし、ナチュラルなスピードで話しているから
ドラマを勉強に利用することはあなた自身のナチュラルな英語のベースを作るのにとってもいい方法なのよ。
(4) Bring a voice recorder to class. This is an effective way to capture
all aspects of the lesson, & to listen to native pronunciation & speaking
patterns. When you listen to the recording later, practice saying words
out loud to get the correct pronunciation.
(4)ボイスレコーダーをレッスンに持ってきましょう。
これはレッスンのあらゆる面をカバーするのにとても効果的な方法よ。
ネイティブの発音や話し方のパターンを聞くことができるからね。
後で録音したものを聞いた時に、声に出して正しい発音を意識しながら
練習してみてね。
(5) If you have time, keep a diary about your daily activities or
interests. It doesn’t matter how simple it is, as any length of writing
helps improve vocabulary, grammar & retention.
(5)もし時間があったら、日頃の出来事や興味のあることを日記に書いてみましょう。
どれだけシンプルなものでもかまわないわ。
文章の長さにかかわらず、書くことって単語力や文法の上達、
それに英語を維持するためにはとっても良いのよ。
(6) At home: study prepositions, countable & uncountable, singular & plural
& all those other tricky grammar points. Then, you can focus on speaking
during the lesson.
(6)お家で：前置詞、可算名詞と不可算名詞、単数系と複数形、その他間違えやすい
文法などを勉強しましょう。そしたら、レッスンで(文法を気にせず)話すことに集中できるでしょ？
(7) Come to class regularly, ask questions at any time, speak as much as
possible, & please never worry about making mistakes. Mistakes are simply
practice, and, as the saying goes, ‘practice makes perfect.’
(7)定期的にレッスンに来ましょう。そして、いつでも質問をし、できるだけたくさん話ましょう。
ミスをすることを怖がっちゃだめよ。「習うより慣れろ/実践することで完璧になる」っていうことわざの
とおり、失敗はただ単に練習を積み重ねているということなのよ。
