I sometimes like to sing live on stage. Have you ever tried? It’s a pretty cool experience. But if you don’t know, there is more to it than just getting in front of an audience and performing a song!

About an hour or two before the show, you have to go to the rehearsal space for soundcheck and costuming. After the show, you have to talk with your fans and try to sell your goods, like CDs, pins, T-shirts, goodie bags, etc.
本番の1〜2時間前には、リハーサルスペースに入って、サウンドチェックや衣装の準備をする必要があるの。
そして、ステージが終わったあとも大事なお仕事があるのよ。
ファンの方とお話ししたり、CDやピンバッジ、Tシャツ、お土産袋などのグッズを紹介したりするの。
Last night, I went to a live stage, but I didn’t perform; I was in the audience this time. Because it was my friend’s live show! She held a solo live show (and party) as a way to celebrate her birthday. Such a cool idea! (I might steal the idea for my own birthday.)
昨夜はライブステージに行ってきたの。でも今回は出演じゃなくて、お客さんとして楽しんできたのよ。
というのも、お友だちのライブだったの！
彼女、自分の誕生日をお祝いするために、ソロライブ（しかもパーティー付き！）を開いたのよ。
とっても素敵なアイデアだと思わない？
私も自分の誕生日に真似しちゃおうかしら…なんて思ってるわ。
The live show was held at Meguro KAHOO karaoke bar. It’s a really small shop but cozy, and the staff is really nice. There is a simple food menu to choose from and of course you can buy alcoholic drinks.
今回のライブは、目黒にあるカラオケバー「KAHOO」で開催されたの。
とても小さなお店なんだけど、居心地がよくて、スタッフの方もとっても親切なのよ。
ちょっとしたフードメニューもあって、もちろんアルコールも楽しめるの。
The people my friend invited were all super fun and nice. Many of them were professional, dancers and she encouraged them to dance while she performed songs. It was cool to see all the improvised choreography.
お友だちが招待していた方たちは、みんなとても楽しくて素敵な方ばかりだったの。
中にはプロのダンサーの方もいらして、彼女が歌っている間に自由に踊ってもらっていたのよ。
その場で生まれる即興の振り付けがとてもかっこよくて、思わず見入ってしまったわ。
One party-goer was a super rich guy (who my friend has only known for a week) who bought us all bottle after bottle of champagne! He was a crazy dude, but really great to hang out with.
参加者の中に、とってもお金持ちの男性がひとりいてね（しかも彼女とは知り合ってまだ1週間なんですって！）、シャンパンを次から次へとごちそうしてくれたのよ。
ちょっとクレイジーな人だったけど、一緒にいるのが、すごく楽しかったわ。
My friend performed some of her own original pieces and also some cover requests made by us, the audience. She is an absolutely amazing performer: she sings well; dances well; and is great at engaging and including the audience throughout her set (during and between songs) and also between sets.
She really inspired me to do better as a performer.
彼女はオリジナル曲も披露してくれたし、私たち観客からのリクエストに応えてカバーも歌ってくれたの。
本当に素晴らしいパフォーマーで、歌もダンスもとても上手なのはもちろん、演奏中だけでなく、曲の合間やセットの間も、ずっと観客を巻き込んで楽しませてくれるのよ。
彼女の姿を見て、私もパフォーマーとしてもっと頑張りたいって思ったわ。
