What are your plans for Golden Week? I don’t have any fun plans this year, so I’ll mostly just be resting. But since I have some extra time, there’s one thing I definitely want to do.
ゴールデンウィークの予定はどうかしら？
私は今年は特に大きな予定はなくて、のんびり過ごすつもり。
でも、時間に少し余裕があるからこそ、どうしてもやりたいことがひとつあるの。
I’ve been doing my nails myself for the past 3-4 years, and it’s my favourite hobby. Despite having spent so long practicing this hobby, I’m still a complete armature so it takes me a very long time to do.
ここ3〜4年くらい、自分でネイルをしているのだけれど、それが大好きな趣味でもあるのよ。
ただ、これだけ続けているのにまだまだ上手とは言えなくて、毎回かなり時間がかかってしまうのよね。
Usually I have to earmark at least 5 hours to remove my previous design,
prepare my nails and then create a new design. If it’s a complicated design it can take me even longer. I would love to get faster at doing them, but I don’t have time to practice recently.
普段は、前のデザインをオフして、爪のケアをして、新しいデザインを仕上げるまでに、最低でも5時間は見ておかないといけないの。
デザインが少し凝ったものになると、さらに時間がかかってしまうこともあるのよね。
もっと手早くできるようになれたらいいなとは思っているのだけれど、最近はなかなか練習する時間も取れていないの。
So during golden week, I want to change my nails, and also practice some new designs.
Here are my current nails.
だから今年のゴールデンウィークは、ネイルを変えつつ、新しいデザインにも挑戦してみようかなって思っているの。
こちらが今のネイルよ。
I love nuance styles, and I especially like using 3D gels to create a jelly effect. As you can see from the photos, one of them has fallen off so I need to redo them asap! I haven’t decided what my next nails will be, but I’m thinking I would like something with a shiny/glossy finish.
ニュアンスネイルが好きで、とくに3Dジェルで作る、あのぷるんとした質感がお気に入りなのよ。
写真を見てもらうとわかるのだけれど、ひとつ取れてしまっていて…これはもう早急にやり直さないといけないわよね。
次はどんなデザインにしようかまだ迷っているのだけれど、ツヤっとした光沢感のある仕上がりにしたいなって思っているの。

The reason I started learning nail art is because the nail styles in the UK are very different.

そもそもネイルアートを始めたきっかけは、イギリスのネイルスタイルが日本とはずいぶん違っていたからなのよ。
Usually just one colour or french nails. Nuance art doesn’t really exist in most UK nail salons.
Because the trends are so different, when I was living in the UK, I would have to travel quite far to go to a Japanese salon (it was also a lot more expensive than a regular nail salon).
イギリスでは、ワンカラーやフレンチネイルが中心で、ニュアンスネイルはほとんど見かけないのよ。
トレンドが違うこともあって、日本のネイルサロンに行こうと思うと、かなり遠くまで行かないといけなくて…しかもお値段も普通のサロンよりずっと高かったのよね。
So one time, on a trip to Japan, I decided to buy a lot of Japanese nail products to take home with me. Since then I’ve been practicing and slowly getting better. I still have a lot of room for improvement.
そんなこともあって、日本に来たときにネイル用品をいろいろ買って帰ったのよ。
それからは少しずつ練習を重ねて、ゆっくりだけれど上達してきた気がするの。
まだまだ伸びしろはたくさんあるのだけれどね。
but its so much fun so I can’t wait to practice this week.
