Hi everyone! My name is Eveline, but you can call me Evie (pronounced just like the Pokémon!). I’ve just started as a lesson partner at b this month!
はじめまして！
Eveline（エヴェリン）です。Evie（イーヴィー）と呼んでください！発音は、ポケモンに出てくる「イーブイ」と同じです。
今月から、bでレッスンパートナーとして働き始めました！
I moved to Japan at the beginning of 2026; before that, I was living in Sydney, Australia. A lot of people think Sydney is the capital of Australia, but it’s actually Canberra! Because of our famous Harbour Bridge and Opera House, Sydney is often mistaken for the capital.
2026年の初めに、それまで住んでいたオーストラリアのシドニーから日本に引っ越してきました。
オーストラリアの首都はシドニーだと思っている方も多いのですが、実はキャンベラなんです！
シドニーには有名なハーバーブリッジやオペラハウスがあるので、首都だと勘違いされることがよくあります。
My favorite thing about Sydney was how much nature surrounds the CBD. We have the ocean, the Royal Botanical Garden, which is a great place to go running on a lunch break, and even a famous local fur seal named Benny who loves sleeping on the Opera House steps.
シドニーで特に好きだったのは、中心街にいながら身近にたくさんの自然を感じられるところです。
海はもちろん、お昼休みにランニングするのにもぴったりなロイヤル・ボタニック・ガーデン（王立植物園）もあります。
さらに、オペラハウスの階段でお昼寝するのが大好きな、Benny（ベニー）という地元で有名なオットセイまでいるんですよ！
I actually used to live near Bondi Beach, which is probably Australia’s most famous tourist hotspot and surfing destination. Despite living right there, I rarely swam because I was always afraid of sharks! I much prefer staying on dry land, eating fish and chips while watching the waves. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can even spot migrating whales breaching from the shore.
その前は、Bondi Beach（ボンダイビーチ）の近くに住んでいました。
ボンダイビーチは、オーストラリアで最も有名な観光スポット、そしてサーフィンの名所なんです。
そんな有名なビーチのすぐ近くに住んでいたにもかかわらず、サメが怖くて、泳ぐことはほとんどありませんでした！
私は海で泳ぐより、陸でのんびり、波を眺めながらフィッシュ＆チップスを食べるほうが好きです。
運が良ければ、海岸からでも、回遊中のクジラが海面からジャンプする姿を見られることもあるんですよ！
Although I am still new to living in Tokyo, I am actually quite familiar with Japan—I’ve already visited 25 prefectures! I love traveling to new areas to try local specialties, see beautiful landscapes like Mount Fuji, and learn more about Japan. I recently went to Okinawa, and the food there was so unique; taco rice, sea grapes, and jimami tofu were my absolute favorites.
東京での生活はまだ始まったばかりですが、実は日本にはかなり馴染みがあって、これまでに25都道府県を訪れたことがあります！
まだ行ったことのない場所を旅して、ご当地グルメを食べたり、富士山などの素敵な景色を眺めたりしながら、日本についてもっと知ることを楽しんでいます。
最近は沖縄にも行ってきました！沖縄の食べ物はとても珍しくて、なかでもタコライス、海ぶどう、ジーマーミ豆腐が特にお気に入りです。
I also love traditional Japanese culture. I love looking for pottery, eating wagashi, and drinking tea.
日本の伝統文化も大好きです。
陶器を探したり、和菓子を食べたり、お茶を飲んだりするのが好きです。
I used to take Chinese painting classes, so I have an interest in arts and crafts, though I have to admit that I find calligraphy much harder!
以前、中国画を習っていたこともあり、アートや工芸にも興味があります。
でも、書道はなかなか難しいですね！
I could go on forever, but that’s a quick intro to me and my background. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and get to know me. I hope I’ll get to meet and chat with some of you soon!
