Greetings everyone, as the typhoon calms itself we’ve entered my period of struggle, the Japanese summer. Being an English girl, I’ve never had a liking for temperatures higher than 25 degrees. Furthermore, as many of you might have known, this month is a milestone for me, since I have moved to my new house with my two new kittens!
こんにちは！
台風もようやく落ち着き、いよいよ私にとっての試練の季節、日本の夏がやってきたわ。
イギリス育ちの私にとって、25度を超える気温は昔から苦手なんです。
そして、ご存じの方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、今月は私にとって大きな節目の月。
新居に引っ越しをして、さらに2匹の子猫たちとの新生活が始まったの！

The moving process was surprisingly smooth. No hiccups whatsoever thanks to the professional moving company. I’ve heard many good things about Japanese moving companies while I was back home, but nonetheless was still surprised when I saw them carefully wrapping each piece of the furniture with duvets and blankets.
引っ越しは驚くほどスムーズに進んだわ。
プロの引っ越し業者さんのおかげで、特に困ったこともなく無事に終えることができたの。
イギリスにいた頃から、日本の引っ越し業者さんは素晴らしいとよく聞いていたのだけれど、それでも家具をひとつひとつ丁寧に布団や毛布で包んで運ぶ様子を見たときは、本当に感心してしまったわ。
The kittens, Mocha and Parfait, are little fur balls of joy and destruction. They are full of life and zooming all around the floor, the ceiling and us! They have a certain magic that being with them can easily steal away a whole day of my time, and my phone storage.
子猫のモカとパフェは、可愛さ満点だけど、とっても暴れん坊な毛玉たちです。
毎日元気いっぱいで、床を走り回るだけでなく、まるで天井まで駆け上がりそうな勢い！
あの子たちには人を夢中にさせる不思議な魅力があって、一緒にいるとあっという間に一日が過ぎてしまうのよね。
そして気が付けば、スマホのストレージ容量までどんどん減っていくの。
Among all the new excitement, I do find myself tired everyday, and here is where I’ve made a purchase from my wishlist in the form of a coffee machine.
楽しいことがたくさんある毎日なのだけれど、新しい生活に慣れるまでは疲れを感じることも多かったの。
そこで、ずっと欲しいものリストに入れていたコーヒーマシンをついに購入したわ。
London, having the most cafes in the world, has really spoiled me. Which was why I struggled to find a coffee to my liking after moving to Tokyo. While British tea is easy to bring across, a good coffee is much harder. So, taking the opportunity of the new house, I’ve finally clicked the purchase button on my coffee sanctuary.
ロンドンは世界でも特にカフェが多い街として知られていて、私はすっかりおいしいコーヒーに慣れてしまっているのよね。
だから東京に引っ越してきたばかりの頃は、自分好みのコーヒーを見つけるのに少し苦労したの。
イギリスの紅茶なら簡単に持ってこられるけれど、お気に入りのコーヒーとなるとなかなか難しいものなのよ。
そこで新居への引っ越しを機に、ついに念願だったコーヒーマシンをポチってしまったの。
It’s the same brand as the one I have in my London house, and every morning I can now briefly teleport back home with a cuppa. It has really become my window of escape and reset before heading back into the world.
それはロンドンの家で使っているものと同じブランドのマシンなの。
おかげで毎朝、コーヒーを一杯飲むたびに、少しの間、ロンドンへタイムスリップしたような気分になれるわ。
今では、その時間が忙しい毎日から少しだけ離れ、気持ちをリセットするための大切なひとときになっているのよね。
