You haven’t had the healing waters of Karlovy Vary (Czechia)?!
えっ、チェコのカルロヴィ・ヴァリの癒しの温泉水、まだ体験したことないの？！
How was your New Year holiday? It seems so far away now, but these memories are still fresh in my mind! I went to Europe for the first time, so let me share one of my favorite places with you.
みなさん、年末年始のお休みはいかがだったかしら？
ずいぶん前のことのように感じるけれど、その時の思い出は今でもはっきりと心に残っているわ。
実は今回、人生で初めてヨーロッパを訪れたの。
その中から、特に印象深かった場所をひとつ、ご紹介するわね。
Of course you know Prague. Everyone knows Prague. So, I’m not going to talk about Prague! I am going to talk about a wonderful place you can get to from Prague by going on a little bus trip.
もちろん、プラハのことはみなさんご存じよね。とっても有名な街ですもの。
だから今回は、あえてプラハの話はしないわ！
その代わりに、プラハからバスで少し足を延ばした先にある、とっても素敵な場所についてお話しさせてね。
This place is called “Karlovy Vary” or “Charles’ Hot Springs.”
この場所の名前は、「カルロヴィ・ヴァリ」。英語では「Charles’ Hot Springs（カール大帝の温泉）」とも呼ばれているの。
Do you love the hot springs of Japan? They are super relaxing, aren’t they? Well, please don’t dip your body in the hot springs here! No, no, no. What you do is dip a cup and drink from them. YES! You drink from them. Drink from them if you would like to receive their healing powers. But you will need a special cup with a spout which you can buy nearby.
日本の温泉、みなさん大好きよね？とってもリラックスできるし、本当に癒されるでしょう？
でもね、ここでは――温泉に入っちゃダメなの！
だめ、だめ、だめよ〜！
じゃあどうするのかというとね、カップですくって、飲むの。
そう、飲むのよ。
癒しのパワーを授かりたいなら、ぜひ飲んでみてほしいわ。
そのためには、注ぎ口のついた専用のカップが必要なのだけれど、それは近くでちゃんと買えるから安心してね。
The legend says that if you don’t feel brand new after drinking from all of the springs, there is a hidden final spring…with alcohol!
言い伝えによるとね、
もしすべての温泉水を飲んでもなんだか生まれ変わった気がしなかったら……
実は、最後に隠された“もうひとつの泉”があるんですって。
それがね――アルコール入りの泉なのよ！
You can also get coffee made from the healing waters if you don’t drink liquor. 🙂
お酒が苦手な人でも安心してね。癒しの温泉水で淹れたコーヒーもちゃんと用意されているのよ。
If you get tired and need to rest, why not have some hot wine, or dessert, or a famous German sausage?
もし歩き疲れて、ちょっとひと休みしたくなったら、ホットワインを飲んでみるのもいいし、デザートを楽しむのもいいわよね。
それとも、名物のドイツ風ソーセージはどうかしら？
If you go during Christmas, you’ll also see a wonderful market with music and lots of shopping to do.
クリスマスの時期に行けば、音楽に包まれた素敵なマーケットが立ち並んで、お買い物も思う存分楽しめるのよ。
Did you know? Some famous American movies were filmed here? If you like comedy, I really recommend watching “Last Holiday,” which is set right here in Karlovy Vary. Very funny and a great way to practice English. 🙂
