この文を会社側から表すと、受け身になります。

つまり、基本構造は次のとおりです。

実際には、誰が問題を突きつけたかを言う必要がないことが多いため、be confronted with の受け身がよく使われます。

受け身で対象を続ける場合は、通常 with が必要です。

confront + 人 には、「人に直接問いただす」「本人と対決する」という意味もあります。
