前後のデザインが似たトップスやワンピースを手にして、「これ、どっちが前？」と迷うことがあります。海外のお店の試着室なら、店員さんへすぐ確認したい一言です。
「これ、どっちが前ですか？」は、英語で Which side is the front? と言えます。
服を着たあとに前後が逆か確認するなら Am I wearing this backwards?、服が裏返しなら Is this inside out? を使います。

Which side is the front?
どちら側が前ですか？
the front は服の前側、the back は後ろ側です。二つの面を見せながら聞けば、何について尋ねているか自然に伝わります。

Which way does this go? は、前後だけでなく、ストラップやベルトなど「どの向き・形で使うのか」が分からないときにも便利です。
frontとback｜服の前側・後ろ側

「前にボタンがあります」は It has buttons in the front.、「ファスナーは後ろです」は The zipper goes in the back. と説明できます。
backwards｜前後が逆
backwards は、服の前と後ろを逆にして着ている状態です。表面は外を向いていても、正面と背面の向きが反対になっています。
- Am I wearing this backwards?（これ、前後を逆に着ていますか？）
- You’re wearing it backwards.（前後が逆ですよ）
- I think this is backwards.（これは前後が逆だと思います）
- Turn it around.（向きを反対にしてください）
backward ではなく、服の着方については通常 backwards または backward のどちらも見かけます。日常会話では地域差があり、米語では backward、英語圏全般では backwards も自然です。
inside out｜裏返し
inside out は、服の内側が外へ出ている「裏返し」の状態です。縫い目や洗濯表示が外側に見えているイメージです。
- Is this inside out?（これは裏返しですか？）
- Your shirt is inside out.（シャツが裏返しですよ）
- I put it on inside out.（裏返しに着てしまいました）
- Turn it inside out before washing it.（洗う前に裏返してください）
backwards は前後の向きが逆、inside out は表と裏が逆です。この二つは別の状態です。
タグや縫い目を確認したいとき
- Does the tag go in the back?（タグは後ろに来ますか？）
- Should this seam be in the front?（この縫い目は前に来ますか？）
- Where should the zipper be?（ファスナーはどこに来ますか？）
- Is the label supposed to be here?（ラベルはここに来るものですか？）
一般には首元のタグが後ろ側にあることが多いですが、デザインによって異なります。分からなければ、タグやファスナーを指しながら店員さんへ聞くのが確実です。

着たあとに店員さんへ確認する英語

supposed to が難しければ、鏡の前で Is this right? と聞くだけでも十分です。
