使用する会計用語は会社や開示資料によって異なります。実務では自社の過去資料、用語集、正式な開示方針を優先してください。

決算説明を始める英語フレーズ

• Thank you for joining our earnings presentation.
  決算説明会にご参加いただき、ありがとうございます。
• Today, we will review our financial results for the first quarter.
  本日は第1四半期の業績をご説明します。
• Let me begin with the key highlights.
  まず主要なポイントからご説明します。
• I will first cover our results and then discuss the full-year outlook.
  最初に業績、その後に通期見通しをご説明します。
• Please note that today’s presentation contains forward-looking statements.

売上・利益の実績を説明する英語フレーズ

• Revenue increased by 12 percent year on year.
  売上高は前年同期比で12％増加しました。
• Operating profit was broadly in line with our plan.
  営業利益はおおむね計画どおりでした。
• Both revenue and profit reached record highs.
  売上高・利益ともに過去最高となりました。
• Profit declined despite higher revenue.
  増収となった一方、利益は減少しました。
• The domestic business remained strong throughout the quarter.
  国内事業は四半期を通じて堅調に推移しました。
• Overseas sales accounted for 35 percent of total revenue.

増減の要因を説明する英語フレーズ

• The main driver of revenue growth was strong demand for our new products.
  増収の主な要因は新製品への旺盛な需要でした。
• The decline was mainly due to higher raw material costs.
  減少は主に原材料費の上昇によるものです。
• Foreign exchange movements had a positive impact on revenue.
  為替変動は売上高にプラスの影響を与えました。
• This was partly offset by lower sales in Europe.

• The impact was temporary and concentrated in the first quarter.

IRの回答を組み立てる5要素

投資家への回答は、すべてを長く説明する必要はありません。次の5要素から、質問に必要なものを選ぶと整理しやすくなります。

1. 結論：会社の認識や回答を最初に示す
2. 実績：開示済みの数字・事実を示す
3. 要因：変化を生んだ主な理由を説明する
4. 見通し：今後の方向性や注目点を示す
5. リスク：不確実性や下振れ要因を示す

We remain confident in our full-year target.
First-half revenue was slightly below plan, mainly due to delayed customer orders. We expect most of those orders to be recorded in the third quarter. However, demand conditions in Europe remain a risk.

業績見通し・ガイダンスを説明する英語フレーズ

• We have maintained our full-year guidance.
  通期業績予想を据え置きました。
• We have revised our revenue forecast upward.
  売上高予想を上方修正しました。
• We expect demand to remain solid in the second half.
  下期も需要は堅調に推移すると見込んでいます。
• We expect profitability to improve gradually.
  収益性は徐々に改善すると予想しています。
• Our forecast assumes an exchange rate of 140 yen to the dollar.

海外投資家の質問を確認する英語フレーズ

長い質問を一度で理解できなかったときも、推測して答える必要はありません。対象、期間、指標を短く確認します。

• If I understand correctly, your question is about the margin outlook.
  正しく理解していれば、利益率の見通しについてのご質問ですね。
• Are you referring to the domestic business or the group as a whole?
  国内事業についてですか、それともグループ全体についてですか。
• Are you asking about this fiscal year or the medium term?
  今期についてですか、それとも中期についてですか。
• Could you clarify what you mean by “structural growth”?
  「構造的成長」が何を指すのか、もう少し詳しく説明していただけますか。

質疑応答で回答を始める英語フレーズ

• Let me address the two points separately.
  2つの点を分けてお答えします。
• The short answer is yes.
  端的に申し上げると、そのとおりです。
• Based on the information we have disclosed, …
  当社が開示している情報に基づくと、……。

• There are two main reasons for this.

未公表情報・答えられない質問への英語フレーズ

答えられないときも、単に No comment. で終わらせず、答えられる範囲や公開資料を示すと対話を保ちやすくなります。

• We have not disclosed specific figures on that point.
  その点について具体的な数字は開示していません。
• We are not in a position to comment on individual transactions.
  個別の取引についてコメントできる立場にはありません。
• What I can say at this point is that demand remains stable.
  現時点で申し上げられるのは、需要が安定しているということです。
• It would be premature to provide a specific outlook.
  具体的な見通しを示すのは時期尚早です。
• Please refer to page 12 of our latest earnings presentation.

会話例1：利益率が低下した理由を聞かれた場合

Investor: Could you explain why the operating margin declined despite the increase in revenue?
IR: Certainly. The main factors were higher raw material costs and increased marketing expenses for new products.
Investor: Do you view those costs as temporary?
IR: We view the raw material impact as partly temporary. The marketing expenses are strategic investments, and we expect their contribution to become visible from the second half.

会話例2：通期見通しについて確認された場合

Analyst: Given the weak first quarter, are you still confident in your full-year guidance?
IR: Yes, we have maintained our full-year guidance.
Analyst: What gives you confidence in the recovery?
IR: Delayed orders are expected to be recorded in the third quarter, and cost reduction measures are progressing as planned. However, foreign exchange movements remain a risk.

会話例3：開示していない数字を質問された場合

Investor: Could you provide the exact profit contribution from the new service?
IR: We have not disclosed a specific profit figure for that service. What I can say is that revenue is growing in line with our expectations and the service is contributing to the improvement in the segment margin.
Investor: When will you provide more detail?
IR: We will consider additional disclosure as the business becomes more material.
