An appetizer is small dish that you eat before your main meal at a restaurant.
There are many different kinds of appetizers served in the United States.
前菜とは、レストランでメイン料理の前に食べる、小皿のようなものです。
アメリカでは沢山の種類の前菜があります。

Bruschetta [bru – sketta] is an Italian appetizer. It is made with grilled toast that has been rubbed with garlic and olive oil. It is topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil.
ブルスケッタとは、イタリアの前菜です。オリーブオイルとガーリックをすり混ぜたものを焼いたトーストに付け、上にフレッシュトマトとモッツァレラチーズそしてバジルをのせます。

◆Crab cakes are also popular in the United States.
These can be served as an appetizer or as a main course.
It is a fishcake that is made with crab meat, bread crumbs, milk, mayonnaise, eggs, and seasonings.
クラブケーキはアメリカで人気の前菜です。前菜もしくはメイン料理として出されます。
クラブケーキはカニの肉、パン粉、牛乳、マヨネーズ、卵、そしてソーセージから作られます。

◆Fried calamari is batter-coated, deep-fried squid.
It is sprinkled with parsley or parmesan cheese and served with marinara sauce, cocktail sauce, or tartar sauce.
カラマリはイカの唐揚げ、天ぷらです。パセリやパルメザンチーズをふりかけ、
マリナーラソース、カクテルソース、タルタルソースと一緒に出されます。

◆Quesadillas [kay-sa-dee-as]
Quesadillas are a food that is originally from Mexico, but has become popular in the United States as an appetizer.
A U.S. quesadilla is a flour tortilla that is heated on a griddle, then topped with cheese (Monterey Jack, Cheddar cheese, or Colby Jack).
After the cheese melts, other ingredients like meat, peppers, onions, or guacamole are added. Then, the tortilla is folded and served.
ケサディーヤは、もともとはメキシコの料理です。しかし、前菜としてアメリカで人気となりました。
アメリカのケサディーヤは熱い鉄板でトルティーヤを熱し、その上にチーズ（モントレージャック、チェダーチーズ、コルビーチーズ）をのせます。
チーズが溶けた後に、お肉、胡椒、玉ねぎ、ワカモレを加えます。そして最後にトルティーヤを巻いて出きあがりです。
